I have always wondered what the meaning of life is. That’s a question that can have many different answers based on your values and beliefs. I believe in god and many teachings from the catholic church, however I do not attend mass, ever. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I can pray on my own. Does this make me less of a Christian? I’ll never know.

Okay back to the topic. To me life is about progression and the pursuit of true happiness. Well I’m sure you’re wondering what I mean by progression so I will go further in depth to clarify.

Are you physically and emotionally healthier than yesterday? This is what matters. Your body is such a unique organism. It has the power to heal itself when provided the right tools. By tools I mean vitamins and nutrients. Are you giving your body what it needs?

If you aren’t take small steps and progress. Eat healthier, exercise more, go outside in the sun, read, learn and laugh until it hurts. Savor life and all its blessings. Be grateful for what you have instead of worrying about what you don’t have.

The pursuit of true happiness is difficult for many people because they often look to money and other material objects that create a false sense of being happy. Yes money is necessary to survive in this capitalistic society. You need a place to live, clothing to wear and food to eat. This is a given.

Let’s look past that. Let’s look within ourselves and really get to know what genuinely makes us happy. That’s the hard part. Looking inside past emotional scars and wounds is not easy. Your past can be painful to examine, but it can also be one of the most rewarding things you ever do.

Look at your past and ask yourself why did I do this? Why did I do that? Be brutally honest with yourself. I know it hurts. The goal is to find out as much as you can about yourself. What influenced certain decisions?

Recently I discovered that music had a powerful influence over me in the past. I will get into this in a later post. What makes you smile? Laugh? Cry? Only you can answer these questions by examining yourself and being honest.

The truth shall set you free!

As long as I can remember, I was always told milk gives you strong bones from all the calcium in it. This is drilled into our heads by the government and mainstream media when we are children. Why does the government want its tax paying citizens to consume cow milk? The answer is extremely simple… MONEY. The government sets milk prices.

Every health benefit and nutrient in cow milk can be obtained in much healthier and natural ways. Humans are the only species that drinks another species milk. Think about it. It is unnatural and unnecessary. Dairy products are counterproductive to the natural pH balance of the human body. Don’t believe me. Ask a nutritionist.

Cow milk has four times the amount of protein as human milk which many people assume is a good thing. The problem is it is not good at all. It leads to disease caused by excess (diabetes is one) and obesity. Obesity is an epidemic in this country. When I’m out, I look around at people and notice the staggering amount of unhealthy looking people. It’s quite disturbing.

Another reason people drink milk is because of the vitamin D content. Well vitamin D is added by the dairy factories. It is not naturally in cow milk. Vitamin D is produced by the human body through the exposure to sunlight. Go outside and get vitamin D the way nature intended.

The calcium in cow milk comes from the vegetation they consume. Humans can get calcium the same way. There is no need to get calcium from another species’ digestive system. Think about it. The cow eats grass which contains calcium, then digests it and passes it on to its milk.

Excessive nutrients are unnecessary and unhealthy, regardless of what you believe. Alternatives to cow milk include almond, soy, and coconut milk. There are many different brands and flavors to choose from. Try a few to see what fits your tastes. I suggest choosing a GMO free product. Research for yourself and you will discover even more myths that the government has forced on us. Do your body a favor.

I woke up earlier than usual this morning feeling a bit down about my current position in life. I am impatient sometimes which can cause these feelings. I have been through a lot in my life just like everyone else. We all have ups and down on our journey through life.

I have accomplished things others dream about but I don’t have much to show for my successes. I am glad to have been through everything I have and I wouldn’t change a thing. I made some great decisions and some not so great ones. We all have.

It’s important to always learn from your experiences and to take that knowledge with you and apply it to situations you face down the road. I know it can be hard to move on from jobs, relationships and your comfort zone but human beings are built to take on anything.

Ok so the point of this post is to show simple ways to get yourself out of a rut.

Always believe. Believe in yourself, the universe, God, Buddha, Allah, etc. Believe in your kitchen table. Just believe in something and stand behind your beliefs.

Open sesame. Keep an open mind. Don’t limit yourself to what others think is possible. Take on challenges with confidence.

Be great. Always do your best. This way you will never regret anything.

Count your successes and learn from your failures. We aren’t perfect. We all make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from your experiences no matter how good, bad, or ugly they may be.

Accept change. Change can be hard but change is good. Take the bull by its horns and embrace your current situation. Take inventory of things you like and don’t like about your life. Then take small steps to change what you don’t like. Focus on what you want to achieve in life and don’t lose sight of your goals.

Live. Have some fun. Do what makes you happy and smile!

New Years Day – January 1st, 2012. It’s a brand new year and many people are making resolutions that they know deep down they will not keep. It is difficult to be honest, let alone being honest to yourself.

I’ve been there before. I’ve made resolutions that I didn’t stick with. I’m incomplete. I am a work in progress. I know how hard it is to achieve something without a plan.

Time shows people’s true colors. Some people have only been there for me through the good times and that’s okay because I have love for everyone. That friend who sucker punched me, that girlfriend who crashed my car, that boss who used me for his personal gain and anyone who has used bad judgment, I forgive all of you. I am still here, stronger and more determined. Life goes on. I won’t sweat the small stuff.

I’m happy to have a handful of true friends I can count on. I’m grateful to have a caring and understanding family who has sacrificed to help me. I’m focused on going after exactly what I want. The only thing that can stop me is death. Sooner or later, it will come for all of us.

With that said, I am making better use of my time to achieve my goals. I am writing television shows. I come up with 10 new concepts each day. This is something I learned from James Altucher (check out his website).

I am loving life.

I have arrived.

Learn from the past, live in the present, and look to the future.

The Science of Being Great by Wallace D. Wattles was written over a century ago but still it makes an impact on my life. Wattles explains how the only thing that can be wrong is your personal attitude. I live by this. Nothing else can be wrong but your own attitude. What a simple and powerful statement that is.

Wattles also writes that it is hard to think which is why many people choose to spend their leisure time immersed in activities that do not require much active thinking. I do my best to steer clear of such activities. I spend the majority of my time at my desk working and thinking. I do set aside some time to watch some soccer matches (1-3 per week).

He instructs to be great in all the relationships and activities in your life and to start immediately. Don’t wait for a such and such to change. Live with greatness today. Treat others great. Let go of the past and live great today.

Be a God among Gods.

I knew it was over. She knew it was over. Our relationship had run its course. We wanted to feel in love again although neither of us changed anything to save the relationship. Was I in love? I think so but I’m not sure. I know I felt something and it felt good. It was no longer present. She had twin boys. They were 2 years old when I first met them. It was great to spend time with them. Being around young kids always gave me a lot of joy. It might be the purity and innocence of children that gives me solace. Positively influencing a child’s growth is an amazing feeling. This is what I learned through my experiences about interacting with kids.

1. Listen – Give your unabated attention and listen when a child speaks to you. I mean really listen. Take in the words and think about what they are saying to you.

2. Read – Pick a book together and enthusiastically read it to them. Get into the story and encourage the child to actively participate. Ask them questions. Have them point out pictures.

3. Teach – Show a child how to play your favorite sport or game. Start with one aspect. I found that passing a football, basketball, or soccer ball back and forth is a good way to start. Make the experience fun. Build up the child’s skills over time if they are interested in learning more.

4. Be patient and gentle – Remember you are dealing with young children, so you will need to be patient and gentle with them. Kids will notice and appreciate it even if they don’t communicate it verbally.

5. Treat them like adults – Don’t treat them like kids. Don’t talk “childish” to them. Treat them like you would treat an adult. This is very important.

6. Be honest and genuine - Children can see right through you. There is no reason to lie anyway! Be honest all the time.

7. Be positive – Like attracts like. Young children are positive by nature. They are filled with happiness and excitement. Share in their positive energy.

Many of these points are obvious yet many adults fail when dealing with children. Kids can absorb information by osmosis – they mimic actions they see and hear. Curse around a child and that child may say that same foul word. People shouldn’t curse at all. It is ugly and makes you sound uneducated and ignorant. Keep your composure and don’t EVER get frustrated.
